I would like you to explain one argument in the anti-abortion camp. What is this nonsense about "no unwanted child"? There are over 100,000 children waiting in foster homes to be adopted re: http://www.urban.org/Publications/411254.html Most of these kids wait over a year to find a forever home, and some never do, coming of age with no parents, no support, just turned out in the world. If all the anti-abortion families in this country would adopt one kid, the problem would be solved. But of course, most won't. Almost no one wants a problem child. Bonding issues, psychological problems, babies born addicted to drugs, children that were turned into prostitutes before they reached puberty, and don't even get me started on crack and aids babies. I know, this doesn't have much to do with the abortion issue, but I'm sick of seeing the "There are no unwanted children" bumper stickers when I have the heartbreaking choice of which child, of the thousands available in my state, to adopt, leaving the others in foster care. I feel like flagging down the car and asking if they would be willing to take one of these kids. So tell me how you can proclaim that, unless you are willing to adopt one of these children? And I'm not dissing foster parents. I was one. But the foster system is overcrowded and broken, and a child needs a forever home. Mr. Artless-- Yes, white healthy infants are in demand, but what about the others? I can't take anymore, I'm out of bedrooms. Who will? Sorry Sorrow--but you are wrong and I would appreciate you no spreading false info. All you have to prove financially is that you are already supporting your family. You can't be welfare, but you can be on disability. And all adoption fees are paid for by the government. And you get a monthly support check for each child you adopt (more than most child support). Money really isn't an issue with these kids. everybody deserves--Which kid on the page referenced above will you be willing to take? Libby--blessings for caring enough to take in a foster child. I tried to figure out why I do drugs. In high school in the 80's the anti-drug slogans were awful. Just say no? that worked.. he. Another big one was "hug are better than drugs" that was actually on bumper stickers. my mother used to say that to me as I left the house. she'd say "Art remember, hugs are better than drugs!" and i believed her. I believed everything my mother said until the first time i got high at a party. i leaned back and was like, "woah this is way better than when my uncle perry hugs me. what else has my mother been lying to me about?" Am I not the most handsomest boy in new jersey?" hugs are great but better than drugs? c'mon! let me put it to ya this way, i never drove to harlem at 4am to get somebody to hug me! (more...)

So- anyone who has watched The Secret, or knows anything about the Law of Attraction knows that if you focus your attention on something, you are bound to get it. From my own observation, it seems that people focus the majority of their energy on Obama. Either people are very pro-Obama or very anti-Obama. (I don't encounter too many Anti-McCain points of view- but I do see lots of NObama bumper stickers, etc.) How do you believe that will translate into votes? The more energy focused on Obama (good or bad) means he is more likely to be voted President. Maybe there aren't many pro-McCain people out there at all- maybe they are just anti-Obama? (more...)
